Capital Metro Remap Brings Major Bus Route Changes to Montopolis Area

On Sunday, June 3rd, 2018, Capital Metro’s Cap Remap, goes into affect. Cap Remap is a major overhaul of its bus services in the Austin and surrounding areas.  The main purpose of these changes is to simplify service with more higher frequency bus routes and better connections between routes.  However, these changes will have a significant affect on bus service to the Montopolis area.

Cap Remap Impacts on the Montopolis Neighborhood

#4 Montopolis

The #4 Montopolis will become the #4 7th Street.  It will no longer run through the Montopolis area.

It will mainly travel east and west along 5th, 6th, and 7th streets between Campbel and 6th Street and 7th and Shady Lane.  The route will provide school trip service to Eastside Memorial High School (formerly Johnston High School).  It will also be added to Capital Metro’s High Frequency Network.  High frequency routes run at least 15 minutes 7 days a week.

To catch the #4 7th Street, you can catch the updated #17 Cesar Chavez.  The #17 Cesar Chavez will now serve the Montopolis area.

#100 Airport Flyer

The #100 is being discontinued.  This route is being replaced with an updated #20 Manor Road/Riverside.

The #20 will run through the Montopolis area along East  Riverside Drive and serve the airport.  However, it will no longer serve the Austin Community College Riverside Campus.  The #20 will be added to Capital Metro’s High Frequency Network. High frequency routes run at least 15 minutes 7 days a week.

#350 Airport Boulevard

The #350 will no longer serve the airport.

Airport service will be replaced with an updated #20 Manor Road/Riverside.  The #20 will run through the Montopolis area on East  Riverside Drive and serve the airport.

#17 Cesar Chavez

The #17 will now serve the Montopolis neighborhood.

The #17 Cesar Chavez will enter the neighborhood across the Montopolis Bridge.  The bus will then run along Montopolis Drive to Hogan Avenue and then to the Austin Community College (ACC) Riverside campus.  After making a stop at ACC, the bus will run back down Hogan Avenue to Montopolis Drive, then travel north on Montopolis Drive back to East Austin/downtown.

Beginning in August 2018, a southbound school trip will run along Vargas Road between Allison Elementary School and Riverside Drive in the afternoon on weekdays.

The #17 will be added to Capital Metro’s High Frequency Network. High frequency routes run at least 15 minutes 7 days a week.

#20 Manor Road/Riverside

The #20 will now run through the Montopolis neighborhood.

The route will run further east on East Riverside Drive and serve the airport.  However, it will no longer serve the Austin Community College (ACC) Riverside Campus.

This route will be added to Capital Metro’s High Frequency Network. High frequency routes run at least 15 minutes 7 days a week.
